Judge orders early voting in Houston congressional election extended after winter storm disruptions

A district judge has ordered Harris County to extend the early voting period for the runoff election of Texas’ 18th Congressional District, after polling stations were closed Sunday and Monday due to severe weather.

The Texas Civil Rights Project on Sunday filed a lawsuit against the county on behalf of organizations Houston Justice and Pure Justice, asking to add Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 to early voting.
