Jude Bellingham insists Scotland fans booing the England national anthem helped to spur Gareth Southgate's team on for the win.
Steve Clarke's Scots were given something of a reality check in a 3-1 defeat against their rivals in a so-called friendly fixture at Hampden Park.
There was a full-house in the south side of Glasgow and the 2,901 English, from the 11,197 who had registered interest, listened to God Save The King booed loudly by the Tartan Army, who had little positive to cheer about.
"When you do that to the right team it can really get under their skin," said Bellingham on the national anthem disruption.
"Today we were so poised, so calm and composed that it actually kind of boosted us and gave us a real lift going into the game.
"We're all really proud to represent our country so it's important we showed that in a game like today."
Bellingham was a total standout on the pitch on Tuesday night, but the Real Madrid man insists he is still looking to improve further.
"I'm always learning. I'm so lucky to have played with so many great players at my last club and even more so at my new club, so it's a big boost for me for my own confidence," he added.
"I'm trying to add more attributes to my game, perfect the ones I've got and keep being effective in front of goal."
