Marco Rose has been forced to defend Jude Bellingham after a furious reaction during the clash with Rangers.
Gio van Bronckhorst 's men ran out comfortable 6-4 aggregate winners to reach the Europa League last 16.
The result sent shockwaves through German football and ramped up the pressure on boss Rose after a lacklustre campaign.
Just as the dust was settling on the result, England cap Bellingham has been criticised for lashing out at teammate Nico Schulz.
The 18-year-old was seen calling the left-back “f***ing s***” following a poor pass at Ibrox with the Bundesliga side chasing the game.
Bellingham has been criticised in some quarters for his comments, but Rose has moved to cool the situation.
The Dortmund boss said: "If Jude has an incredible strength alongside his quality as a footballer, it's that he really wants to win every game, in training and in competitive games.
"Of course he radiates that, you communicate that again and again.
"Jude wants to win games, Jude is angry, that's what defines him.
"We actually need more of them."
