Jude Bellingham matched a record proudly held by Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe as he continued to sparkle in the Champions League once more.
The Borussia Dortmund star has been one of the standout players in Europe this term, despite his side having not quite managed to have hit their top form so far this season with just two wins from their opening four group matches. Having already scored in every Champions League game so far this season, Bellingham extended that hot streak with another goal in Tuesday evening’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla at the Westfalenstadion.
After the German giants had been pinned back by Tanguy Nianzou’s early opener, the former Birmingham City youngster was on hand to level matters as he acrobatically converted Thomas Meunier’s cross.
Having now scored in four Champions League games in succession, he equalled a record held by both Mbappe and Haaland by becoming just the third teenager in the history of the competition in which to do so. In the process, he also surpassed Wayne Rooney - the Manchester United icon having only scored in three consecutive matches before his 20th birthday.
Of course, Bellingham still has some way to go to match the all-time Champions League record of scoring in consecutive games. Current United star Cristiano Ronaldo holds that accolade having found the net in 11 successive games in the competition during his time with Real Madrid over the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
Dortmund defender Mats Hummels was full of praise for Bellingham and his performances this season after witnessing his latest goalscoring show. Speaking to Amazon Prime after the German side’s draw with Sevilla, he said: "He always wants to win, every training session, every game.
"I wish I had that kind of energy still. He's played every minute this season. He's allowed to make mistakes. I'd rather have him play that way and complain five times than someone who was silent for 90 minutes and was less ambitious."

Whilst Bellingham has been in scintillating form in the Champions League, he is ironically still to get off the mark domestically, having not yet found the net in the Bundesliga.
Regardless, he will be aiming to change that this weekend as Dortmund come up against current table-toppers Union Berlin. He will also be attempting to continue his good run in Europe over the coming weeks as the German side round-off their group stage assignments against Manchester City and FC Copenhagen.
They need just a minimum of one point from those closing two fixtures to book their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
Bellingham has, of course, been linked with a move away from Dortmund in recent seasons - Man United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool are all reportedly among his lengthy list of admirers. He still has just under three years left to run on his contract with his current club.
