Judas Priest Releases 19Th Studio Album 'Invincible Shield' After Hiatus

Lead vocalist Rob Halford performs on '50 Heavy Metal Years' tour.

Lead vocalist Rob Halford of British heavy metal band Judas Priest recently performed on stage during their '50 Heavy Metal Years' tour at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, on November 23, 2022. The band's journey dates back to 1974 when they recorded their debut album, 'Rocka Rolla,' which showcased a blend of blues-and-folk-influenced progressive hard rock rather than their later signature heavy metal sound.

Despite humble beginnings and challenging recording conditions, Judas Priest has evolved over the years, amassing a dedicated fan base and influencing numerous metal acts. The current lineup includes Halford, bassist Ian Hill, guitarist Glenn Tipton, drummer Scott Travis, and guitarist Richie Faulkner.

After a six-year hiatus, the band is set to release their 19th studio album, 'Invincible Shield,' on Friday. The album, announced during the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, promises to deliver the classic Priest sound with a fresh perspective.

The lead single, 'Panic Attack,' addresses the dark side of the internet and societal issues, setting the tone for the album. Another track, 'Crown of Horns,' offers a message of hope and love amidst global conflicts.

'Invincible Shield' features a diverse range of tracks, including the empowering 'As God Is My Witness,' emphasizing self-empowerment and resilience. Producer/guitarist Andy Sneap played a pivotal role in shaping the album's dynamic sound.

As Judas Priest gears up for their North American tour starting in April, fans can expect a visually captivating experience with a new stage presentation reflecting the album's theme of an 'invincible shield.' Halford emphasizes the importance of leaving a lasting visual memory for fans through meticulous stage design and setlist curation.

From their debut in 1974 to the upcoming release of 'Invincible Shield' in 2024, Judas Priest's enduring legacy continues to inspire both the band members and their loyal fan base. Halford expresses gratitude for the band's journey and the opportunity to share their music with fans, reflecting on the emotional significance of their 50-year milestone.
