Juan Gabriel Manager Jesús Salas Dies on the Singer's 75th Birthday In Eerie Coincidence

En español

The entertainment world is mourning once again after the passing of Jesús Salas. A close friend of the legendary Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, he was also his brother-in-law and manager. Salas died on January 7—the same day the iconic "Divo de Juárez" would have celebrated his 75th birthday.

The tragic news were confirmed on social media by Guillermo Pous, an attorney known for representing celebrities.

In his heartfelt message, Pous emphasized Salas' pivotal role in Juan Gabriel's life and career, describing him as a "great person" and expressing deep sorrow over losing such a close friend.

"Dear friend, I will miss you dearly. You were waiting for this day; today, you are the one who matters most," wrote Pous, highlighting the void Salas leaves behind.

Who was Jesús Salas?

Jesús Salas was the brother of Laura Salas, the mother of Juan Gabriel's children.

The two shared not just a friendship but also a journey filled with challenges and triumphs in the entertainment industry.

Their connection began when Juan Gabriel was 15 and Jesús was 16. Both faced financial struggles, lacking stable housing and income, yet their determination led them to build a successful career together.

In a memorable interview, Salas recounted their first meeting in Mexico City's Zona Rosa. "Alberto (Juan Gabriel) and I met by pure chance. He ran away from an orphanage, and I ran away from home," he said with nostalgia.

To survive they took odd jobs such as washing cars and sweeping streets—experiences that forged a bond lasting over five decades.

More than a friend

Jesús Salas was not only Juan Gabriel's closest confidant but also a key figure in his artistic success. He appeared in two of the singer's films, 'Es Mi Vida' and 'El Noa Noa,' and was instrumental in helping Juan Gabriel achieve stardom.

Salas served as the singer's right-hand man throughout his career. His death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans.

Many remember him not just as Juan Gabriel's manager, but also as the man who stood by the music icon during his highest and lowest moments.

Their unbreakable bond was even portrayed in the biographical series about Juan Gabriel, highlighting Salas' vital role in the singer's life.

The timing of Salas' passing—on the anniversary of Juan Gabriel's birth—has added emotional weight to the loss.
