Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan’s proposal of the need to enter into an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the ensuing general elections in Andhra Pradesh will be taken to the notice of the party national leadership, says BJP State president Somu Veerraju.
Mr. Veerraju was speaking after participating in the ‘charge-sheet’ programme conducted for the Guntur West and East Assembly constituencies on Saturday.
Mr. Veerraju said the BJP was the only political party in Andhra Pradesh that was committed to the development of Amaravati as the lone capital of the State.
The Central government had provided funds for the capital city, connectivity roads and other infrastructure, and purchased lands for the Central institutions here, he added.
He said the party State Executive meeting would be conducted on May 19, wherein it would release the schedule for the district and State-level charge-sheet programmes. The BJP would expose the failures and inefficiency of the YSR Congress Party government, he added.
Stating that the Union government had sanctioned more than ₹500 crore for the development of Guntur city, he asked the State government to reveal how it had spent the money.
A sum of ₹250 crore was sanctioned for Guntur city under the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions. Under the AMRUT scheme, the Central government gave ₹500 crore. Similarly, it had given ₹75 crore under Swachh Bharat for development of slums, he said.
“The State government has not spent a single rupee on the development of Guntur since 2014,” Mr. Veerraju alleged.
He accused the YSRCP leaders of resorting to corruption and illegal mining of natural resources such as sand, granite, silica, and mica.
Mr. Veerraju demanded that the State government provide sand free of cost.
“The housing scheme in Andhra Pradesh is a big scam. The Central government has sanctioned 33 lakh houses, but the State government is constructing only 7 lakh. The Central government has released ₹17,000 crore under the scheme,” Mr. Veerraju said.
“The Central government is providing Minimum Support Price to the farmers, but the State government is not passing on the benefit to them. Millers and Civil Supplies authorities have been cheating the farmers,” he alleged.
For the benefit of construction workers, the Central government had launched various schemes, but the State government was not implementing them, Mr. Veerraju alleged.
