Jota transfer latest as Celtic 'inform Benfica' of transfer intentions

Jota wants Celtic permanent move as winger 'informs Benfica' of transfer intentions

Celtic have reportedly informed Benfica of their intentions of moving for a permanent deal for Jota.

The Portuguese winger is on loan from Benfica and has long been linked with making a permanent switch to Glasgow in a £6.5million deal.

Jota, 23, is a fan favourite at Parkhead and wild speculation over negotiations between Celtic and Benfica has continued throughout the season.

And now the Portuguese outlet Jornal Noticias, says Celtic will exercise the buy option in Jota's deal to bring him to Scotland on a permanent basis.

"Not a chance am I thinking about next season, I am just enjoying day by day”, said Jota of the ongoing transfer speculation last weekend.

"It has been a terrific season for me and I am just enjoying getting to know the people around me.

"I am trying to be a better person and a better player and I am being with quality players every day.

"I don't want to talk about that. I just want to enjoy and give everything for this shirt.

"As a football player you need to keep your mind on the pitch, that's all that matters.

"Bureaucratic things are for others, please just let me enjoy my football.”
