Jota to sign four year Celtic deal 'soon' with Benfica transfer wait set to end

Jota will reportedly sign a four-year deal with Celtic ‘soon’.

The deal to bring the Portuguese winger back to Parkhead on a permanent basis has been in the works for weeks. But fans have had to remain patient as they wait on an announcement.

Now Portuguese outlet Record claim that 23-year-old Jota will sign a four-year contract with the Scottish Premiership champions. A fee of £6.5million was part of the initial loan deal with Benfica, and the negotiations have been over personal terms.

The winger wasn’t present as Ange Postecoglou’ s squad returned for the first day of pre-season training this week. He was snapped attending a music festival in his homeland after heading on holiday with some of his Celtic teammates earlier in the summer.

The Hoops are due to fly out to Austria for a training camp next week. Whether Jota can join them in time remains to be seen, but reports in Portugal claim it won’t be too much longer until he puts pen to paper.

A deal for Argentinian left back Alexandro Bernabei is close to completion. The 21-year-old jetted into Glasgow last week to put the finishing touches on his transfer from Lanus, although like Jota, no announcement has yet been made.

Meanwhile French defender Christopher Jullien could be heading for the exit. Rennes and Lorient in his homeland are thought to be interested in the defender, while Schalke in Germany could be an option.

Jullien only made his comeback from injury last season but is behind Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt in the pecking order. He is also in the final year of his contract and the club could be ready to cash in.
