Jota's 'remarkable' Celtic form attracts transfer interest as 'clubs have an eye on him' claim made

Jota's impressive early season form for Celtic is already catching the eye of envious clubs, it has been claimed.

The Portuguese winger was a key summer signing for boss Ange Postecoglou and has impressed in flashes during their Champions League Group F campaign, scoring against RB Leipzig in a game which ultimately finished 3-1 to the Bundesliga side. Former Scotland and Rangers boss Alex McLeish can't believe the Hoops got a deal done for Jota as he is the complete package.

He claims that he's been made aware that there suitors lining up for the former Benfica man after a good night in Germany, that proved difficult overall for his club. McLeish told Football Insider: I was astonished at the deal Celtic did for Jota. In the beginning I thought he was a bit fancy, step overs, that kind of thing. Can he set people up, can beat people, can he put in crosses, can he head the ball?

“The answer to every one of those questions is a positive yes. From what I hear, clubs have an eye on him. He had a few more alight chances against Leipzig.

"So he could have had another goal. To be honest, I think Celtic were too open. Leipzig were open as well which is why Celtic had quite a few chances.

"But take nothing away from Jota. He is having a remarkable season.”
