Chris Sutton opened the scoring inside the first minute before Stiliyan Petrov doubled the lead on eight minutes. Paul Lambert put the game beyond Rangers after just 11 as the shellshocked Light Blues struggled to come to terms with what had hit them in Glasgow’s East End.
Claudio Reyna pulled one back before the break, but Larsson re-established the three-goal cushion from the spot five minutes later. Billy Dodds then grabbed another for the visitors on 55 minutes, but that was it as far as Rangers goals were concerned.
