Joshua Kimmich, the Bayern Munich midfielder, has been appointed as the new captain of Germany's national team following the retirement of several senior players after Euro 2024. Kimmich will lead the team with vice-captains Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid and Kai Havertz from Arsenal for the upcoming Nations League matches against Hungary and the Netherlands.
Although Kimmich has not held a permanent captaincy role before, he has previously stepped in as captain when needed due to injuries or absences. The 29-year-old has captained Germany in 17 games out of his 91 international appearances, including instances where he took over the armband during matches.
