Josh Warrington returns to action this weekend to fight for the IBF Featherweight World Title in his home city of Leeds. The 31-year-old will face a former opponent in Spaniard Kiko Martinez - who became champion after defeating Kid Galahad in November.
Warrington vacated the IBF title last year ahead of his initial fight with Mauricio Lara, where he suffered a surprise defeat and then drew with the same opponent after two rounds as Lara suffered a cut eye. Instead of a third fight with the skilled Mexican, he'll now fight for the title.
This weekend's bout will see Warrington hope to claim his first victory since 2019, having taken the year off in 2020 due to coronavirus, and having two bouts with Lara in 2021. In the previous meeting between Martinez and Warrington in 2017, the bout went the full distance before the later won via the score cards.
