Josh Warrington has the chance to become a two-time world champion when he fights Kiko Martinez for a second time in Leeds tonight. The hometown hero headlines an exciting card at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, with Ebanie Bridges also involved in a world title fight against Maria Cecilia Roman.
Warrington was the victor when he last met Martinez in the ring in 2017 as he won on points after the fight went the distance. A win for the Leeds Warrior on Saturday would see him become a two-time world champion as his Spanish opponent claimed the IBF Featherweight title back in November.
The fight with Martinez marks the next step on Warrington's quest back to the top, having not fought in 2020 and being unable to win the bouts with Lara, and serves as a redemption arc. In the previous meeting between Martinez and Warrington in 2017, the bout went the full distance before the later won via the score cards.
