Josh Warrington says he's agreed terms ahead of a world title fight against the current WBA featherwight champion Leigh Wood. The Leeds United fan has not fought since December where he was beaten by Mexican fighter Luis Alberto Lopez where he vacated his IBF featherweight title in the defeat.
The 32-year-old had been eying a trilogy fight with rival Maricio Lara, but his defeat to Wood has opened up a fresh avenue. Warrington, who has 31 wins, two defeats and two draws in his career, claims it's now up to Wood to agree his part of the deal ahead of an all English title fight.
Warrington told The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X : "Well, I’m allowed to say that we’re negotiating, and my terms have been agreed, for a fight against Leigh Wood, somewhere in this country around October time. So that’s as far as I go [laughs], we needed some dramatic music over that!
