Josh Taylor admits seeing his family being subjected to abuse in the wake of his controversial victory over Jack Catterall has got him riled up ahead of their rematch.
Taylor defended all four of his super lightweight belts in a hotly disputed points win over the Englishman in February, despite many observers thinking he should have lost.
Taylor was then left furious when members of his family were also targeted on social media by boxing fans who were left irate over that outcome.
Taylor, who now only holds the WBO belt after relinquishing his other three titles, is expected to enter the ring with Catterall for a second time in March.
He said: “Some people think he won the fight, then cool. That’s what you think, that’s your opinion.
“It’s the other s**t that I’ve been having a problem with, the people attacking myself and my family.
“I’m not really bothered. But when your family is getting s**t, I definitely got the fire in the belly and the motivation and the hunger and fire to do a number this time and say I told you so, and then to everybody else, a big f**k you.”
Speaking to iD Boxing, Taylor has vowed to deliver a dominant fighting display when he and Catterall lock horns in the eagerly-awaited rematch.
He added: “It’s going to be a massively different outcome. I don’t think he gets anywhere near me this time.
“Listen, if he can’t beat me at my worst and I have a very close fight, he’s not going to beat me when I’m anywhere near my best.
“I bet he’s not going to get anywhere near me. So, that’s all I have to say. I can’t wait and hopefully get the fight announced soon and get it on.”
