Former Rangers star Alan Hutton is backing Josh Onomah to handle the heat of playing for his old club as he urged them to snap up his former team-mate.
The ex-Light Blues favourite and now TV pundit played beside the midfielder at Aston Villa and reckons he could easily make the transition to playing at Ibrox if, as expected, Michael Beale makes a move in the window for the player he tried to take to QPR from Fulham at the beginning of this campaign.
Onomah, who played with Celtic's Cameron Carter-Vickers at Tottenham, has struggled for game time in the English Premier League this season and is ripe for a move to get regular football. Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: "I know him, I played with him at Aston Villa so I know what kind of player he is, what kind of character he is. He is very good. I think he has been unfortunate that he has gone to a team and not played. He is that type of guy that you need to play week in week out so that you can see the best of his ability.

"There is no doubting his talent, I have seen it with my own eyes. He is more than capable of coming to a place like Rangers and handling it. I think he would be a good addition to the team.
"Getting a player of that quality, although he has not been playing regularly in the Premier League this season, I know he would be able to handle the task."
talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor also played with Onomah at Villa and he's also convinced he can do a job at Ibrox. He told the same outlet: "Steve Bruce was after him at West Brom before the transfer window closed. He just never kicked on, to be honest. I don't know why.
"Maybe the Premier League hasn't been kind to him but he could definitely do a job in the Championship or the Scottish Premiership. He just needs a run of games, he just needs to go somewhere where he's going to play. He's at that age now, 25, where he needs to play football.
Beale gets his reign as the top man at Rangers underway this weekend as he welcomes Bayer Leverkusen to Ibrox for a friendly showdown.
The clash with the Bundesliga side will provide vital football minutes ahead of next week's Premiership return and his first competitive game in charge.
Hibs make the trip to Glasgow for a Thursday night clash under the lights at Ibrox.
