Josh McDaniels backs Davante Adams after NFL star seen shoving cameraman after loss

Davante Adams could be in hot water after footage emerged of him pushing a cameraman after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, but head coach Josh McDaniels is backing his star.

The Las Vegas Raiders were edged 30-29 by the Chiefs after a risky play to go for a two-point conversion majorly backfired, and Adams was clearly outraged. The wide receiver scored two touchdowns on the night, but when the Raiders were desperately chasing a late winner, Adams collided with Hunter Renfrow.

Adams stormed off the field, although came into contact with a cameraman on the way. Police are now investigating the matter as Adams appeared to push him down in anger, but McDaniels is certain that there was no malicious intent behind it.

"I know that was an unfortunate situation," McDaniels said. "We obviously don't want any of our guys to be doing anything like that. He knows that. He's very well aware of that.

"But I know the person. I don't think there was any intent behind it on his part. But whatever they [the NFL] ask of us, whatever they need from us, obviously, we'll comply."

Adams is facing a police inquiry and possible suspension after he was seen showing a cameraman on Monday night, with the victim falling backwards and down to the ground. Adams has already issued an apology following the incident, but many are asking why he didn't help the man, and instead just walked off at Arrowhead Stadium.

ESPN have identified the cameraman as a freelancer for Monday Night Football, and the man did not sustain major injuries. Adams addressed the incident and said: "He jumped in front of me coming off the field.

"I kind of pushed him. He ended up on the ground. I want to apologise to him for that. That was just frustration mixed with him really just running in front of me. "I shouldn't have responded that way, but that's the way I responded. I want to apologise to him for that."

Adams also followed up with a second apology on Twitter, as the receiver wrote: "Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously very frustrated at the way the game ended and when he ran in front of me as I exited that was my reaction and I felt horrible immediately. That's not me..MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this."

The former Green Bay Packers star has never been in trouble with the NFL before as the receiver hails a clean record. But he will soon find out if that reputation is set to continue.

The NFL are likely to respond with a verdict over his possible suspension in the coming days, putting his availability for their clash against the Houston Texans on hold. He will also learn if the police choose to intervene over matters.

It's a shame for Adams, who starred during the match and pushed Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs all the way on Monday night. Adams is the second-highest paid receiver in the NFL on a contract worth £25.75million for the 2022 season alone.
