Josh Kerr wants to bring more middle-distance records into the modern era but not while the ink is still wet from writing “the final chapter…for right now” by running the fastest mile in history.
It took the Scotsman three minutes and 42.66secs on Saturday to craft the perfect ending to a story the public became aware of in March, when Kerr outlined his intention to come to the London Diamond League and wipe out the previous record, set by Hicham El Guerrouj 27 years ago.
