Josh Doig sensational Napoli switch chance as Bologna also keen as Hibs to benefit from sell-on clause

Josh Doig could be set for a sensational switch to Serie A leaders Napoli just six months after his life-changing move from Hibs to Hellas Verona.

The Easter Road men pocketed £3million for the highly talented left-sided player - and if he moves again in January they will be landing even more cash as a sell-on clause was negotiated when the 20-year-old swapped the Scottish Premiership for the Italian top flight.

Doig has only started five Serie A matches in nine appearances overall where he has been playing as a left wing back but his reputation has been growing fast and there are other interested parties according to Tuttomercato - most notably Bologna, who signed fellow Scot Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen in the summer, and Lazio.

Verona sit bottom of Serie A and have brought in Sean Sogliano as their new director of football to try to turn around their fortunes when the league restarts after the World Cup and he doesn't want to lose any of the main assets but Bologna are looking to sweeten the deal for Doig by offering midfielder Emanuel Vignato as well as cash.

Lee Johnson will be keeping his eye on developments as a boost to the Easter Road coffers will be very welcome as he looks to strengthen the squad in January.

He is already resigned to losing Ryan Porteous after the centre back turned down the latest and final offer from the Hibs board and they want to cash in and sell the Scotland man in the window.
