Josh Doig seals Hibs transfer exit as Hellas Verona announce defender on four year deal

Hellas Verona have confirmed the signing of Hibs defender Josh Doig on a four-year deal until 2026.

Scotland Under-21 cap Doig had been in Italy since earlier this week to finalise his move to the ambitious Serie A side. The Hibees had accepted a bid in the region of £3m for the 20-year-old and he becomes the latest young Scot to make the move to Italy, after Aberdeen sold Lewis Ferguson to Bologna in a a similar switch.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson said: “This deal highlights the great work done in the Academy and shows the pathway for our young players. The terms of this deal made complete sense for us. Josh is an excellent talent and I have no doubt he will go on to have a successful future.”
