The Arizona Cardinals will need nearly a perfect performance from the offense and defense in order to upset the 3-0 San Francisco 49ers. In a simulation of the Week 4 matchup o “Madden NFL 24,” the defense was great but gave up one huge touchdown run, while quarterback Josh Dobbs was sacked three times and intercepted three times.
The 49ers got out to a 14-0 lead and won the game 29-19.
Buy Cardinals TicketsThe Arizona defense held the 49ers to only 271 total yards but Christian McCaffrey had 116 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yarder.
Josh Dobbs threw an interception to Charvarius Ward in the firs drive of the game and Brock Purdy found Ray-Ray McCloud for a 27-yard touchdown pass.
The Cardinals tried to get on the board with a 60-yard field goal but Matt Prater missed it, and the 49ers went up 14-0 with a two-yard touchdown run from McCaffrey.
After a pair of punts, Prater’s 46-yard field goal got the Cardinals on the board and that was it in the first half, although Dobbs’ second interception of the game, this one to linebacker Dre Greenlaw, ruined a drive in the final two minutes of the half.
The 49ers opened the second half missing a 53-yard field goal and Prater’s 36-yard field goal made it 14-6.
After a 49ers punt, the Cardinals got in the end zone. Emari Demercado had a one-yard touchdown run but the two-point conversion was no good, so instead of a tie game it was 14-12 San Francisco.
But McCaffrey ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run on the vert next play and then Dobbs was picked off by linebacker Fred Warner. Purdy ran two yards for the touchdown and connected with tight end George Kittle for two to make it 29-12.
The Cardinals responded with a five-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Brown and were unable to recover the onside kick.
The final was 29-19.
Dobbs was 21-for-34 passes for 198 yards, one touchdown and three picks. He was sacked three times.
Purdy was 10-for-23 passing for 140 yards and a touchdown.
James Conner rushed for 71 yards on 17 attempts.
Brown had five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Michael Wilson led the Cardinals with five receptions for 74 yards.
Deebo Samuel had three catches for 40 yards and McCloud had three for 71 and a touchdown.
