The bar below Selin Kiazim’s newish Turkish restaurant Leydi is, unfortunately, a local of mine, 10 minutes from my front door. This is unfortunate not because it isn’t good, but because it really, really is, and I imagine I’ll be in there quite a lot listening to vinyl records and nodding along, even though I’ve no idea who the f*** it is.
Another listening bar? Sounds good, frankly. It is also fairly close to The London Standard offices, which means when colleagues say, “drink?” I’ll say, “sure”, then suggest Black Lacquer, the name of the bar in question. It sits seductively below the Hyde London City hotel. A hot ticket.
