Bills quarterback Josh Allen name-dropped a variety of star athletes while calling out audibles during Thursday night’s win over the Buccaneers.
Among the names called out by Allen in prime time included that of LeBron James, Bobby Wagner, and Jamal Adams. There was also some confusion among NFL fans at one point, when Buffalo used an audible that some people misheard as “Taylor Swift.”
After the game, Allen clarified his audible call and indicated that he had actually said “J.R. Smith” when changing the play at the line of scrimmage, via Andrew Siciliano of the NFL Network.
With Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce capturing the NFL’s spotlight of late, some fans seemingly had the pop music star on their minds during Thursday night’s, mistaking the name of the former Cavaliers’ guard for the world-famous singer.

It wasn’t the first time Allen has name-dropped some sports superstars while making adjustments at the line of scrimmage. He previously called out “LeBron James” during an audible earlier this month, and his list of names on Thursday night included some fellow NFL stars, too.
Ultimately, the discussion among fans honed in on whether he said “Taylor Swift” or “J.R. Smith,” a debate which was settled by Allen during his postgame address.
