It happens so often: A baseball broadcast focuses on a player sitting in the dugout minding his own business, and then that player proceeds to pick his nose. I don’t know how broadcasts manage to time that consistently, but the San Diego Padres broadcast was unusually excited to catch Twins pitcher Dylan Bundy in the act.
But in a bit of anti-bullying karmic energy, Jose Miranda had his teammate’s back.
As Miranda was at the plate during the sixth inning of Sunday’s game, the Padres broadcast showed Bundy in the dugout. And, of course, Bundy proceeded to pick his nose. Like, extensively. That was when the Padres color analyst Mark Grant offered his commentary, and it got a bit excessive.
“Ah, yeah, get in there,” Grant said. “Oh yeah! A couple knuckles. Yeah, there you go! Get it! … Fifty bucks says the kid’s gonna eat it.”

Almost at the exact moment Grant completed his joke, Miranda drove a home run to left field to give the Twins the lead. Grant then had to switch his commentary back to the actual game, which made it all even funnier.
If only Bundy could have held on to that lead. The Padres followed up with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning and won, 3-2.
MLB fans still had plenty to say about that wild sequence.
