Saturday’s UFC card has lost a bantamweight prelim the day before weigh-ins.
The fight between Garrett Armfield (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Jose Johnson (15-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC) set for early in the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 220, is off after Johnson was pulled due to a medical issue. UFC officials confirmed the fight’s removal to TSN Sports and removed the fight from the official bout order.
UFC Fight Night 220 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.
Johnson was set to make his official UFC debut on the heels of his win over Jack Cartwright on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2022. He had a fight scheduled against Vince Morales this past November, but had to pull out of that fight, as well. Now his shot at a fourth straight win is on hold.
Armfield was looking to get back in the win column after a submission loss to David Onama in July 2022. His follow-up was scheduled against Christian Rodriguez this past October, but a staph infection took Armfield out of the fight.
With the cancellation, UFC Fight Night 220 now includes:
