UFC star Jorge Masvidal has made a violent promise to Gilbert Burns with the rivals on a collision course for next year.
Masvidal, 38, is hopeful of booking his next fight in the first quarter of next year after being sidelined with an injury following his decision loss to friend turned rival Colby Covington in March. The loss marked Masvidal's third defeat on the bounce, as the inaugural 'BMF' champion was beaten twice by former welterweight king Kamaru Usman before losing to Covington.
Burns claimed Masvidal turned down three fights against him in November, December and January as the Brazilian has now been booked to face Neil Magny at UFC 283. "Just letting everyone know that UFC offered me Masvidal three times, first time was for November 12. He said he needs more time, second time for December 10. Then he said he was going to fight me in Brazil and now he just said no again! So I guess the B from his BMF belt doesn’t stand for bad," Burns wrote.

Masvidal insisted he was never able to fight this year because of injuries he sustained from his last fight, telling Mirror Fighting : "I want to clear up this, I never told the UFC I could fight in November or December because I still have injuries. I said January maybe if I’m healed up by then, but guess what I’ve got the good news and the clearance."
'Gamebred' is facing three felony charges stemming from an alleged assault on Covington just weeks after their fight and he admitted he wants to take care of his legal issues before returning to the octagon. "I've got numerous things going on, some little b**** out there is trying to hit me over the head with three felonies," Masvidal added.
"I’ve still got to fix things up on that before people jump to any conclusions. I can beat the f****ng living brakes off of Gilbert Burns in March or April, that’s the honest truth and everything else is f****ng bull****." A year would have passed since Masvidal's last fight by the time he returns to the octagon and with Burns back in action next month, he will unlikely serve as Masvidal's next opponent.
Masvidal has never fought for his 'BMF' title since winning it against Nate Diaz in November 2019, but Michael Chandler recently called for a shot at the symbolic belt following his submission loss to Dustin Poirier last month. 'Gamebred' played down the call out and labelled Chandler a "quitter" for tapping out to Poirier.
