The Seattle Seahawks are off this week in the first round of bye weeks. Typically, an early bye is not what teams would want, as later byes are more valuable with the grind of the season in full swing.
But for the Seahawks, it likely could not have come at a better time, and this sentiment is being expressed by starting linebacker Jordyn Brooks. According to Brooks, via Gregg Bell at the Tacoma News Tribune:
Buy Seahawks Tickets“Yeah, it’s a weird time for a bye. For me, personally? I don’t mind it…I get one week off this (surgically reconstructed) knee. Get some rest and rehabbing,” Brooks said. “Hey, we’ll take the bye — then we’ve got to go down the stretch.”
It’s only been four weeks of play but Seattle is severely banged up. The entire offensive line has been decimated. At one point on Monday Night Football, only one day-1 starter was playing, and he (Evan Brown) was playing guard instead of center. Injuries in the secondary to Riq Woolen, Coby Bryant and Jamal Adams have also popped up.
The Seahawks are certainly welcoming this early bye as the team attempts to get healthy, especially as a date with the Cincinnati Bengals is looming.
