Jordan Larsson would face the difficult task of living up to his father Henrik 's legacy at Celtic if he complete a fairytale transfer, insists Peter Grant.
Larsson Jr is set to be available as a free agent as the son of the Parkhead icon leaves Spartak Moscow with his contract ripped up following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He impressed in the Russian top flight netting an impressive 26 goals his first 62 appearances before returning to Sweden on loan with title challengers AIK.
The free agent can now weigh up his options with loan club AIK appearing to lead the race for a potential swoop, with the 25-year-old starting the last game in the Allsvenskan before his Spartak contract was ripped up. However, a move to the Scottish Premiership champions has caught the imagination of Parkhead supporters given the mark Larsson Sr left on Glasgow's east end.
But for former Celtic hero Grant, that is exactly the problem. While admitting the Swedish international is a talented player, he reckons he could be weighed down by expectations from the fans.
He told the Go Radio Football Show" “I’ve seen him a few times and he looks like a really, really good striker. I know he got a little bit of criticism when he was playing under his father, and the fans were giving him a bit of stick, but he was a young man and he seemed to take it very well.
“I seen him in other games and I was very impressed with him. It’s not an easy name to follow. It’s very difficult to be like Henrik, he is a one off. It’d be very difficult for him to follow in the footsteps of his father.”
Larsson has offered a hint that his future may be in Sweden when asked about extending his stay with AIK: "We'll see. It depends on what happens. I can talk to my agent, then we can sit down and decide. But AIK is definitely in the picture, and we have a dialogue."
