Jordan Henderson explains why Kostas Tsimikas took winning Liverpool penalty in Chelsea FA Cup final win

Jordan Henderson has revealed Liverpool have been practising penalties in the build-up to the FA Cup final and described Alisson Becker as 'incredible' following his side’s dramatic win.

The Reds claimed their second piece of silverware this season after beating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley. Just like the Carabao Cup final back in February between both sides, the game ended 0-0 after 120 minutes.

The spot-kicks eventually went to sudden death after both Cesar Azpilicueta and Sadio Mane missed in the opening 10 penalties of the shootout. But after Mason Mount saw his effort saved by Alisson Becker, Konstantinos Tsimikas was handed the opportunity to win the cup for the Reds, and he coolly converted from 12-yards-out.

And speaking after the game, Henderson revealed that his side have been practising penalties in the build-up to the game and he had full confidence in Tsimikas to score when he stepped up.

He said: "He’s been good on penalties. We’ve been practising them and I was full of confidence when he stepped up."

Before he added on Alisson heroics, saying: "Not enough good words. Incredible. Everything. His all round personality in the dressing room.

"Good two teams going at it. We kept going. In ET, both times tired and thankfully we got the rub of the green."
