Jordan Banjo says jibes about his lockdown weight gain made him scared to leave house

Jordan Banjo revealed a comment made about his lockdown weight gain that made him feel nervous about leaving the house.

The Diversity dancer was one of the panellists on Thursday's edition of Loose Men alongside Andi Peters, Ore Oduba and Shaun Wallace.

He opened up about gaining weight during the coronavirus lockdown and how 'lad banter' from a random person hurt his feelings.

"We as dudes, we're quite harsh on ourselves. Everything's expected to be taken in stride and as a joke," he told the audience.

"I was doing my radio show during the lockdown. And during lockdown, I put on three stone. I put on a lot of weight and it took me ages to shift it again.

"So I came out of my radio show, and as I came out this guy was in the van next to me and put down his window and goes, 'Wehey, I can tell you haven't been dancing for a while!'"

Jordan was with his friends when the random person made the comment about his weight.

"As a group of boys and a group of lads, we're all expected to go, 'Oh yeah, that's funny'. So he drives off and had a little bit of 'lad banter'," he continued.

"We're all meant to be like, 'that was cool, that was funny' but that stuff hurts. For the next month, I didn't want to go out because I thought people are going to recognise me from Diversity and think 'he's too big'. It genuinely really affected me."

Jordan previously opened up about his weight loss journey and how it took him getting his 'mindset right'.

Earlier this year, he shared a before-and-after post of himself.

Jordan Banjo has showcased his impressive weight loss journey, and told fans he is still shocked when he looks back on his transformation.

The Diversity dancer, 29, took to Instagram to share some before-and-after snaps of himself, and explained how getting his "mindset right" helped him achieve his current physique.

Jordan's social media update came after the co-host of BBC's Eat Well For Less revealed he once feared for his future with Diversity after their Britain's Got Talent win in 2009, after doctors told the then-teenager he was "morbidly obese'.

"Still shocks me when I see this," the dancer began in his reflective caption.

"Way less dancing, no diet structure and a lack of motivation had me how I was in the first pic! But getting the mindset right and having a focus which was getting ready for tour has me where I am now."

He added: "Random I know but thought I’d share because looking at those pics next to each other just gave me a shock."
