TV star Jonnie Irwin has spoken out after some fans suggested he might be making a return to A Place in the Sun on TV after he appeared at a live event in Manchester earlier this month. The Midland-born presenter who is battling terminal cancer took to Instagram to set the record straight - and said the TV show and live event were two separate things.
Posting a picture of himself and fellow host Jasmine Harman, the Express reported he said: “Last week I got to team up with my mate again at @aplaceinthesunofficial Live. It was the busiest for years but for some reason, the papers are talking about it as a comeback for me.
“Just to confirm @aplaceinthesunofficial is a separate company running the website and affiliated business and has supported me continuously though-out which I’m eternally grateful for. Here’s looking forward to the next one!”

Some fans had wondered if he was going to return to the TV show. Grauholt said: “Glad to hear that Place In The Sun rethought their decision. You are an inspiration.”
Others were just please to see him. Anthony.bh61 said: “Best of luck today Johnnie! Delighted to hear you’re teaming up with your old pal Jasmine for a day of doing what you two do so well, inform educate and entertain. Enjoy, best wishes from Ireland, we love you guys over here.”
Chilledatsunsetblog’ said: “Thanks to you and Jasmine we lived in rural Spain for 6 years and now 9 months into French life. Cranston.clare added: “Wonderful news for you to be back with gorgeous Jasmin! What a wonderful man you are. Have a super dooper day.”
Jonnie, 49, has previously criticised Channel 4 for its handling of his departure. He says bosses dumped him as soon as he told them of his condition.
A Place in the Sun said at the time: “Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during coronavirus but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.”
