Jonnie Irwin says he is feeling "grateful to be home" after suffering another setback amid his ongoing cancer battle.
The former A Place In The Sun presenter, 49, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and has been given just months to live.
He took to Instagram on Monday to give fans a health update after previously revealing he had been admitted to hospital with jaundice.
He also said that among the symptoms he had been experiencing were "fever and acute stabbing pain in my right hand side".
Now, Irwin, who shares three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with wife Jess as well as their five-year-old son, Rex, has assured that he has turned a corner.
"Well the blood tests and scans today show my liver function is heading in the right direction," he penned on the picture sharing app.
"There’s bigger issues we will have to confront in a couple of weeks but for now I’m allowed home. I’m taking the small win for now."
The caption accompanied a picture of Irwin smiling at the camera as he posed next to his eldest child, who was fast asleep on the sofa having tried unsuccessfully to stay up to welcome him home.
"Rex tried to stay up to welcome me home but couldn’t quite stay awake bless him, although Reggie and Ronnie were wide awake so I got to [tell] them a story," he continued.
Irwin went on to send a "big big thanks to all the doctors and nurses who looked after me".
Adding: "I’m so grateful to be home."All being well, he is set to celebrate his 50th birthday at home on Friday.
