Recently, Draymond Green shared his opinion that the Golden State Warriors‘ addition of Chris Paul would allow Jonathan Kuminga to flourish. Since joining the Warriors as the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Kuminga has slowly begun to cement himself in the team’s rotation but is clearly capable of taking his game to another level.
Recently, Kuminga sat down for an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated’s ‘Inside the Warriors,’ where the athletic forward discussed the Warriors’ acquisition of the veteran point guard. During the interview, Kuminga also discussed his thoughts on how the Warriors’ style of play would make Paul’s addition an interesting fit.
“I was surprised,” Kuminga said. “Watching CP growing up, the way he plays a different type of basketball than the Warriors. Me being on the Warriors for the for the past two years now, we play a different type of basketball playing at a fast pace. We move off the ball a lot. I’m just looking forward to seeing how it’s gonna work, and I feel like CP is a smart player. He has a lot of experience, and I feel like he’s gonna bring so much that we didn’t have on the team, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Kuminga and Paul will likely both come off the bench for the Warriors next season, allowing the two to develop chemistry together. Hopefully, while Paul and Kuminga share the court, Green’s vision of Kuminga developing his game under Paul’s guidance can become a reality, and the Warriors can become increasingly dynamic.
