While the NFL world descends upon Mobile, Alabama (Senior Bowl) and Los Angeles (Super Bowl), the Texans are among a handful of teams still looking to fill their head coaching vacancies.
Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network is reporting that Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon is a finalist for the Houston Job along with Josh McCown and former Dolphins coach, Brian Flores.
Flores made headlines this week after news broke that he is suing the NFL and its teams for discriminatory hiring practices.
McCown was reportedly offered the job of associate head coach at the end of the 2020 season and he could immediately assume that role as well as the offensive coordinator if Gannon is able to land the job.
Gannon, 39, was with Nick Sirianni on the Colts staff for three years, and prior to joining the Colts, Gannon spent time with the Vikings, Titans, and Falcons.
Houston is likely Gannon’s best shot for a head coaching job in the 2022 coaching cycle, but he will likely be a hot name in 2023.
