State witness Jonathan Dowdall will come face-to-face with murder accused Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch in court today.
The former Sinn Fein councillor will be brought out of Limerick prison this morning in a jail van accompanied by an armed Garda escort, it is understood.
The 44-year-old will be taken to the Criminal Courts of Justice where he is likely to be kept in a holding cell — just feet from Hutch, before the trial begins at 11am.

The case has been moved from Court 11 to Court 17 to facilitate the interest in the case and for Dowdall to possibly be brought in through an entrance typically reserved for a jury — on the opposite side of the room to Hutch.
After 29 days of one of the most dramatic trials in the history of the State, he will take the witness stand in what will be a crucial week.
Dowdall claims he met with Hutch, 59, in the days following the Regency Hotel murder of David Byrne in February 2016 — where the accused allegedly confessed about his involvement.
Dowdall is serving a four-year sentence after admitting to his role in facilitating the killing.
