Jon Jones vows to "f*** up* both Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane after UFC 270

Jon Jones wasn't impressed by what he saw in the main event of UFC 270 between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

The former training partners met in UFC's first pay-per-view of the year last weekend, with Ngannou defending his title by outwrestling Gane over five rounds.

It wasn't the fight many expected between the two heavy hitters, with Ngannou being forced to wrestle after tearing his MCL and injuring his ACL shortly after Christmas.

Jones reacted to the fight in a series of tweets, first writing: “If this is the Apex of heavyweight fighting, I’m excited about it. Got some more records to break.”

He also seemingly mocked Gane in his 11th professional fight, adding: "I love how everyone gets so impressed with the new guy lol".

And in a since-deleted post, Jones wrote: "At the end of the day, I'm f***ing them both up."

Jones has been poised to make his UFC heavyweight debut since vacating the light heavyweight belt in 2020 shortly after his controversial victory against Dominick Reyes.

A fight with Ngannou has been on the table for Jones since, but financial troubles with the promotion and controversies outside of the cage have kept him inactive.

He was sought to fight Ngannou in the champion's first title defence after winning the belt last March, but UFC boss Dana White said 'Bones' demanded $30 million for the fight.

And Ngannou admitted he would rather fight boxing star Tyson Fury instead of waiting for Jones to make his UFC return.

"If you give me the two options, I would choose fighting Tyson Fury," Ngannou said before UFC 270.

"After fighting Stipe [Miocic], the Jon Jones fight was on the table, but it seems like nobody really cares about it, so I don't know.

"Also, we don't even know what is the position of Jon Jones right now. I'm not planning my life based on that. I will plan my life based on the facts."

Ngannou is out of contract with the UFC after outpointing Gane, but owes the promotion one more fight on his old deal due to the champion's clause.

'The Predator' explained his contract cannot exceed a length of five years, so he will be free to leave in December regardless of if he fights again.

Ngannou said he felt unprotected in certain terms of his deal and wants more freedom if he re-signs with the promotion, specifically demanding the ability to box whilst under contract.

Fury - who has teased a crossover fight with Ngannou - called out the UFC star after his recent win, writing: "Congratulations, Francis Ngannou but if you want to make real money, come see the big Gypsy King."

Ngannou hinted at his UFC exit by responding to Fury's call-out with a mock-up poster for the fight.
