Trent Alexander-Arnold should retire from England duty until Gareth Southgate's departure after the manager's Kieran Trippier 'insult'. That is the view of talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor, who believes it is a 'joke' to claim the Newcastle full-back currently has a better 'all-round' game than the Liverpool star.
Alexander-Arnold did not feature at all during the latest Nations League fixtures, with Reece James and Kyle Walker both selected ahead of the 23-year-old. Trippier was an unused substitute against both Italy and Germany, and Southgate would go on to suggest the Magpies full-back was next in line in the defensive pecking order.
Alexander-Arnold missed Euro 2020 through injury, and has featured in just four of the last 15 international fixtures. Agbonlahor accepts the Liverpool full-back is currently behind both James and Walker, but could not hide his disbelief at the claim that Trippier is also a better option at this stage.
