'Joke' - Manchester United fans slam club over latest transfer decision

Manchester United fans have been venting their frustration over what they see as a mistake made by the club during the transfer window.

United have had a disappointing summer so far. The Reds have added Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia to their ranks, but they are still in need of further reinforcements before the transfer window closes in a few weeks.

Erik ten Hag knows how important these final few weeks of the window will be as he looks to give himself the best possible platform to launch a successful first season with the club. The Dutchman is looking to instil his own style and philosophy in his squad, as he tries to get his team to press aggressively, defend compactly and play with fluidity on the pitch.

Having attacking full-backs at his disposal will be a crucial part of Ten Hag's tactical set-up at the club. The Dutchman loves his team to counter-press and overload opponents with players as high up the pitch as possible.

So as it emerged that Ethan Laird looks set to join QPR on loan, a lot of fans were perplexed as to why the club are letting the 21-year-old go. Laird is an aggressive, attacking full-back and, as he showed during his loan spell at MK Dons for the 2020/21 season, is a natural at getting in behind his opponents and winning the ball off them high up the pitch.

These are the qualities that Ten Hag looks for in his full-backs - so it came as a surprise for supporters of the club to hear that United were loaning Laird out this season. As the news broke, fans took to social media to vent their frustration over what they see as a mistake being made by the club in the transfer window:
