JoJo Siwa told fans she ended up in hospital just hours before her Black Friday show after a cyst on her ovary burst and left her in what she described as “excruciating pain.” The 22-year-old shared the experience in a TikTok video posted Saturday and explained that she “couldn’t breathe” and was “blacking out” before medical help arrived.
She said she had been dealing with stomach pain for the “last couple of days” but assumed it would ease the way it usually did after dancing or walking.

In her video, she described how the day started like any other as she headed to the Mall of America for morning Black Friday work. “It was yesterday morning, and I went to the Mall of America to do some morning Black Friday work, and all of a sudden, I was coming back up to my room, told my mom, I was like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna have to get myself looked at when I get home.

This pain is really bad, but I thought it would pass; it has been for the last few days.’” Once she returned to her room, she tried resting. “I got back up to my room, and I had three hours before the performance, so I was like, ‘I’m just gonna lie down and close my eyes, and hope for the best.’ I lay down, I closed my eyes, and I was like, ‘I can’t breathe, this is really bad. Why don’t I get in the bathtub?’ And that set it off 100 times worse.”
She said things escalated quickly after that. “So, I got in the bathtub, and I was in it for maybe four minutes, and all of a sudden, I was like, ‘I have to get out immediately,’ because I knew I was gonna black out, and I felt like I was gonna throw up.” She tried getting to the couch but kept losing consciousness.

“And so, I got out immediately, I ran to the couch, and I just lay down. I called my mom, and I was blacking out. And so as soon as I was done blacking out, I called my mom, and I was like, ‘Hey, it’s actually really bad. I think I need you to come up here.'”
Her mom Jessalynn rushed to her room and had to help her get dressed because she was in so much pain. When the emergency team arrived, they took vitals, and JoJo said everything looked normal, which left them unsure of what was happening. She explained how she and her mom tried to balance her health with her commitment to fans. “[One in hospital], we said [to doctors], ‘Look, obviously if something is like we, we need emergency surgery, wrong or something like, obviously there are other options, but there is a lot of people at the Mall of America waiting and counting on this performance.’”
Once the “pain meds started to kick in,” JoJo said she found herself “dancing” in her “hospital bed” before an ultrasound revealed that the cyst had “burst and was bleeding into my stomach.” Doctors told her it “should resolve itself,” and with that “peace of mind” she returned to the Mall of America and performed for the crowd that had been waiting for her.
