Jojo Fifita commits to NRL's Titans

In-demand Gold Coast teenager Jojo Fifita wants to help turn around the NRL club after signing a long-term deal to remain a Titan.

The 19-year-old on Thursday penned a new deal that will keep him at Parkwood until at least 2025, adamant inspirational young captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's efforts to lift the battling club will be realised.

And he hopes second cousin David, off contract after next season, can finalise his own contract extension to join them.

The Titans had hopes of repeating a 2020 finals appearance last season but fell miserably short with a 6-18 record.

"I had talks with a lot of people about the club ... I've been enjoying it and wanted to make sure I had a spot in the long term," Fifita said.

"It was a tough year but some of the boys like Tino trying to make this club be as good as it can and I can believe he can with this extra help coming in.

"I'll be in early (for pre-season beginning next week), going as hard as a I can."

Back-rower David Fifita hasn't delivered on the hype after his high-profile, $1.2 million per season move from Brisbane.

Barring a last-minute Titans deal he'll be open to bids from rival clubs once the contract window opens next week.

But Jojo hopes they'll remain teammates beyond 2023.

"I haven't seen him much lately but I've tried to hint it a bit for him to stay," Fifita said.

"He's quite a character at training, definitely loud, all the boys love playing next to him, I hope he stays."

Debuting on the wing, Fifita impressed in eight games after a late-season debut that came in just his second season playing rugby league full-time.

He earned selection for the Prime Minister's XIII against Papua New Guinea and said he'd be training in the centres this pre-season.

"Jojo is a real talent and a player that we're excited to have here at the Titans long term," Holbrook said.

"After growing up predominantly playing union, 2022 was just his second year of full-time rugby league and you can see how quickly he has adapted to our game.

"He's a strike outside back but he is also a great defender and as he continues to develop we're confident that you'll see his game improve even further."
