The funeral of a five-year-old girl and her father who died in an explosion is to take place tomorrow.
Little Shauna Flanagan-Garwe was the youngest victim of the Creeslough tragedy which claimed ten lives.
She died alongside her father Robert Garwe, whose arms were wrapped around his daughter when their bodies were recovered from the scene.
Their funeral mass will take place tomorrow at St Michael's Church in the Donegal village at 11am.
A funeral notice reads: "The tragic deaths occurred in Creeslough of Robert Garwe and his daughter Shauna Flanagan-Garwe of 55 Massinass Cottages, Creeslough. Deeply missed by a heartbroken Áine, Taona, Gabriel, Darren, Tessa, Alex, Conrad and their extended families and many friends.
"Their remains will be reposing at their home in Creeslough from 1pm to 10pm on Friday, 14th October 2022. Strictly family time from 10pm and on the morning of the funeral. Funeral Mass in St Michael’s Church, Creeslough, on Saturday, 15th October, at 11am, followed by private cremation."
Shauna, who had just begun primary school a few weeks ago, and her dad had gone to get mum Aine a birthday cake at the time the blast occurred.
Speaking this week, Shauna's uncle Killian Flanagan told how his sister Aine has been "incredibly strong" in the wake of losing her only child and partner.
He explained that she is taking comfort from the unity and support the community has shown but also that doting Shauna was found in her dad's arms when their bodies were recovered from the scene.
Killian said: "The other bit of comfort she'll take I hope is that the emergency workers told her that Shauna and Robert were found with Robert's arms around Shauna.
"She was wrapped in her daddy's care and her daddy's embrace. And please god, that still remains and he's keeping her safe wherever they are."
Asked how mum Aine was doing, Killian said: "She's lost her only child and partner. This is devastating.
"But as I said, she's so strong. A lesser person wouldn't be able to do what she's doing at the moment. She knows that Shauna is in her daddy's arms."
He added: "Shauna started school a few weeks ago, five years of age, the most charming and beautiful girl.
"You can picture the most mischievous, most lovable five-year-old, think of that and multiply it by two - that was Shauna."
