The government is today set to unveil new cash handouts for families struggling with the cost of living crisis.
All households in Britain will get an energy bills discount of up to £400 and won't have to pay it back, according to reports.
Rishi Sunak is set to announce the cash - to be distributed by energy companies - today as part of a package to help with the soaring cost of living.
It's reported the chancellor will scrap a much-criticised "rebate and clawback scheme" that would have seen people get a £200 discount on energy bills from October 1.
Suppliers would have recouped the funds by charging £40 extra a year over five years - leading to criticism it was effectively a loan.

Sunak is also poised to announce lump-sum payments of up to £600 for around 8.5million households on means-tested benefits.
Earlier this week Ofgem chief Jonathan Brearley warned MPs the energy price cap could surge from the current £1,971 to an eye watering £2,800 in October.
The price cap limits how much a household pays for energy if on a variable-rate tariff, paying by direct debit and using average amounts of power.
Brearley said: "We need the government to step in...broadly this is only something government can address".
He added: "I know this is a very distressing time for customers but I do need to be clear with this committee, with customers and with the government about the likely price implications for October."
The current cap which stands at £1,971 applies until September 31. It was a £693 increase from the previous cap six months earlier.
Thousands more Brits are set to fall into debt with at least four in 10 people braced for fuel poverty in October.
