Johnny Sexton enjoyed his birthday celebrations in New Zealand this week, with one particular team mate giving the rugby star a cheeky dig on social media.
Sexton received the best birthday present of all with two successive victories against New Zealand in recent days. The team captain turned 37 on Monday following a thrilling match against the Maori All Blacks over the weekend.
He received several well wishes from family and friends on social media, and fellow Irish rugby player Peter O’ Mahony couldn't help but give Johnny a little dig. O’ Mahony was quick to poke some fun at the player and wished the 37-year-old a happy 40th birthday.

Johnny looked slightly embarrassed as he laughed while a dessert with a candle was brought out to him.
His birthday celebrations were put on the back foot in preparation for today’s penultimate game of the New Zealand series. Cian Frawley told the Irish Independent that although Johnny was missing friends and family while away, they will “have a cake for him at some stage.”
Their penultimate match of the season took place at 8am Irish time today and they secured their second win with a score of 30-24 in front of 12,000 fans.
The fly half appeared emotional over the weekend after the initial win and told interviewers that it was “a very special day” for Ireland. The victory marked Ireland’s first defeat of the All Blacks on New Zealand soil.
“Whenever you create a little bit of history, it means a lot. It’s a very special day for everyone in the country,” he said at a press conference.
The final deciding match between the two teams will take place next week in Wellington’s Sky Stadium. The match will air at 7.30 am Irish time and kick off will begin at 8.05 am on Sky Sports.
