Johnny Depp has won his defamation case against Amber Heard.
The jury ruled largely in Depp’s favour, finding that Heard had defamed Depp on all three counts and he was awarded $10million (£7.9million) in compensatory damages and $5million (£3.9million) in punitive damages.
As part of her countersuit, Heard was awarded $2million (£1.5million) as the jury found that a statement made by Depp’s attorney, Adam Waldman, defamed her.
Despite his victory at the verdict, Johnny Depp wasn’t present in court.
That’s because the Pirates Of The Caribbean star is currently in the UK, where he’s been joining guitarist Jeff Beck for his tour.
So far, Depp has performed alongside Jeff in Sheffield and London and now it’s been reported that he will join him for the rest of his UK tour.
Here’s everything you need to know about Depp and Beck’s long-term friendship.
How did Johnny Depp meet Jeff Beck?
Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck’s friendship dates back to 2017 when the pair first met in the iconic guitarist's dressing room.
Beck recently recalled their first meeting with fondness when he introduced Depp as a surprise performer at his Royal Albert Hall show in London.
He said that Depp had “come knocking on my dressing room door about five years ago and we haven’t stopped laughing since”.
Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck’s musical collaboration
In 2020 the pair released their first musical collaboration together, the single Isolation, a cover of John Lennon’s 1970 hit.
But the pair had actually been collaborating for years before this. In 2019 they performed together at Eric Clapton’s charity event in Texas.
Announcing the release of their Isolation single, Jeff Beck’s website says that he “found an unexpected co-conspirator in Johnny Depp” and described them as “musical soulmates”.
It also describes their musical collaboration, saying: “The musical soulmates have been working behind-the-scenes for the past few several years on new music.”
Will Johnny continue to perform with Jeff Beck?
After performing three shows already with Jeff Beck, Johnny has now been added to the lineup for the remainder of his UK tour.
This means that Depp will remain in the UK and perform in Gateshead, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and York.
