Johnny Depp releasing album with Jeff Beck in July following Gateshead concert appearance

Hollywood star Johnny Depp is releasing an album with guitarist Jeff Beck next month following his appearance at a concert in Gateshead.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star appeared on stage with Jeff Beck during his show at The Sage in Gateshead on Thursday.

He caused a stir with locals on Wednesday night when he met up with Sam Fender in The Bridge Tavern in Newcastle. The star was also seen tucking into fish and chips in the pub just hours before the verdict of his defamation case with Amber Heard, which he won.

Depp has been on tour with Beck in the UK who has more shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and York. The pair met five years ago and Beck said they've "never stopped laughing since". He added: "We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July."

The collaboration was first announced by Depp on his Instagram account in April 2020. At the time he described Beck as "my dear friend and my brother … one of my all time guitar heroes", Wales Online reports.

The musician had originally announced the collaboration with a cover of John Lennon’s song Isolation. He said then: "Given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that people are going through in these challenging times, we decided now might be the right time to let you all hear it. You’ll be hearing more from Johnny and me in a little while, but until then we hope you find some comfort and solidarity in our take on this Lennon classic."

Depp has previously played with supergroup Hollywood Vampires alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. In a statement following his defamation lawsuit against Heard, he hailed the start of a "new chapter".

The Pirates of the Caribbean has also been pictured cuddling orphaned badger cubs at a wildlife centre in Kent during his time in the UK. Social media posts from the Folly Wildlife Rescue centre in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, social media showed him with the animal, named Freddie Mercury.
