Johnny Depp mobbed by over 200 rowdy fans in Gateshead before being chased in car

Johnny Depp was mobbed by excited fans last night as he left the Sage Gateshead after performing with his pal Jeff Beck.

The Hollywood actor puffed on a black cigarette as he greeted supporters who had waited outside the venue for hours to catch a glimpse of the Pirates of The Caribbean star.

On Wednesday, Depp won the multimillion-dollar US lawsuit against former wife Amber Heard after a Virginia jury ruled a 2018 article published in The Washington Post was defamatory.

The actor was awarded $15m by the court - comprising $10m compensatory damages and a further $5m in punitive damages - but the judge capped the punitive damages total in accordance with legal limits, resulting in a total of $10.35m.

Amber Heard was awarded $2m in her counter-suit against Depp.

Following his win, Johnny who has been touring North England this week since the trial ended, over 200 ecstatic fans screamed and chanted Depp's name as he made his way out of the venue and security guards were forced to hold several fans back as several girls tried to grab the actor.

Several fans exclaimed they 'couldn't breathe' after managing to touch the Pirates of the Caribbean star who was then quickly ushered to a nearby car to escape the screaming crowds.

However, as Johnny sped away from the venue in the vehicle, crazed fans continued to chase after the silver people carrier.

He did however make time for his loyal fans as he signed several autographs and posed in smiling snaps next to his admirers.

During the concert Beck told the audience his pal Johnny had 'been through a lot' and referenced the 'good verdict'.

Depp arrived in Newcastle on Wednesday and delighted locals by heading to the Bridge Tavern pub close to the city's iconic quayside.

Following his win on Wednesday, Johnny enjoyed some drinks with his pal Beck and Newcastle singer Sam Fender who shared a number of snaps with the legendary actor.
