Johnny Depp has thanked his “most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters” in his first TikTok post.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, whose defamation battle with ex-wife Amber Heard ended last week, shared a statement on the video sharing app and has amassed more than five million followers in one day.
The video, which he reposted on Instagram, showed highlights from his run of live concerts with musician Jeff Beck as he performed across the UK and clips of fans showing their support with banners and flags.
Set to the reggae song Stranger by Love Joys, the video also showed Depp preparing a set list for his gigs alongside Beck and working on a typewriter.
He wrote: “To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together.
“We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together.
“You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”
Johnny's bitter defamation trial against Amber ended last week after six weeks of courtroom battle, as the jury ruled in his favour.
It centred around a 2018 article his 36-year-old ex-wife wrote for Washington Post about her experiences as a domestic abuse survivor.
Although Johnny wasn’t named in the article, he claimed it was clear it was about him – and has always denied the allegations against him.
A jury ruled in favour of the Edward Scissorhands actor and he was awarded $10.35 million (£8.2 million) in damages.
However, Amber won on one count, successfully arguing her former husband’s press agent defame her by claiming her allegations were an “abuse hoax” aiming at capitalised on the #MeToo movement.
However, the Edward Scissorhands star is thought to be trying to rebuild his movie career after the accusations from his ex-wife caused him to be dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
And it is thought him joining TikTok, where he received strong support from users during the trial, could help restore his public image further.
