With the 2022 Glastonbury Festival opening to music fans today, rumours are already swirling as to which famous faces could be making a surprise appearance at the long-awaited return of the live music event. The latest name to be mentioned is American actor Johnny Depp, who was last seen on stage at Glastonbury in 2017.
Over the past 50 years, the festival has seen some of the world's biggest stars arrive to perform on the iconic Worthy Farm stages - some of which have been unannounced. In the past, Lady Gaga has played the Shangri-La stage whilst the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet has appeared on the Pyramid Stage, along with surprise sets from The Killers, Foals and Bastille, Somerset Live reports.
Already this year, there have been rumours Sir Elton John could be amongst those make a surprise appearance, as the star is currently playing dates in the UK as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. Pop icon Harry Styles' has also been mentioned, as has George Ezra and Chemical Brothers.

But another rumour is that Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp could be making his return to Glastonbury. The 59-year-old, whose defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard concluded earlier this month, has recently announced he would be releasing a new album with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck.
It is said to drop on July 15 and will feature 13 tracks, two of which are original songs. The announcement of new music from the Edward Scissorhands star has left many wondering whether he could be making an unannounced appearance at the five-day Glastonbury Festival which starts today, June 22.
His latest cover with Beck is The Velvet Underground's 'Venus In Furs' and released just a few days ago. Johnny has recently been spotted at a number of dates on Jeff Beck's UK tour and whilst the European leg of the tour continues on June 24, there is a gap in the dates on June 26, so there is a possibility either or even both of the stars could make an unexpected arrival.
