Johnny Depp cradles badger on visit to wildlife rescue in UK after bombshell win

Johnny Depp cradled an orphaned badger cub during a visit to a wildlife rescue centre in Kent, with him said to have been "blown away" by the whole experience.

The actor, 58, has been in the UK in recent days amid the conclusion of his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36 in the US - with the verdicts read out yesterday.

He's been spotted with guitarist Jeff Beck, 77, since arriving over here, with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor having even performed at gigs with him in recent days.

And it's understood that in a break from music, he visited Folly Wildlife Rescue in Tunbridge Well - with Jeff a patron of the charity which rehabilitates rescued animals.

The charity announced the visit on their Facebook page earlier today, sharing a photo of the actor cradling a badger cub on what was described as an "incredible afternoon."

It said he was brought to the centre by Jeff's wife Sandra Beck, with Johnny said to have toured the site's care and vet units, as well as meeting orphaned badger cubs.

The charity said in its post on the social media platform about the visit: "Johnny was incredibly complimentary and in his own words 'blown away' by what he saw."

It added that he was allowed the "rare privilege of briefly" holding an orphaned badger cub named Freddie, with the centre currently hand-rearing a number of such cubs.

The visit comes just a day after the jury reached verdicts in his defamation case between him and his ex-wife Amber, with the trial having played out over recent weeks in the US.

Johnny had sued Amber over an op-ed about domestic violence in the Washington Post in 2018. Although he wasn't named in it, he argued it was implied he had abused her.

It was claimed that it had affected his ability to work, with him suing her for defamation. The jury found in his favour on all three claims and awarded him $15 million in damages.

Amber had countersued over statements made about her in the press, with the jury finding in favour of one of her three counterclaims - awarding $2 million in damages to her.
